Would you like to board and tour a WWII vessel that delivered men and equipment to the shores of Normandy, France, on D-Day–July 12, 1944? USS Landing Ship Tank 325 will sail down the Mississippi River from Dubuque, to Bettendorf, IA, and dock at Isle Casino Hotel, for public tours and a glimpse into military history. During five days, Thursday, August 30, through Monday, September 3, 2018, visitors are invited aboard to take self-guided tours, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. They take about 45 minutes. Morrison’s Dennis VanZuiden will be in uniform to assist visitors.
From 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 31, the Air Force Band of America “Hot Brass” rock band will perform, at the flood wall. There is no charge.
USS Landing Ship Tank 325 is the last navigable vessel of its kind in the United States. She visited the area in 2008, docking in Clinton, IA, and Moline, IL drawing thousands of enthusiastic visitors.
Tickets can be purchased at Isle Casino Hotel, 1777 Isle Parkway, Bettendorf.
- There is no charge for World War II veterans or children age five and under.
- Youths aged six-to-17 pay $5.
- Adult tickets are $10.
