Merrilee Ann McCue, 69 of rural Sterling, IL, entered the gates of Heaven peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Monday July 23, 2018.
She was born on August 18, 1948, in Sterling, the daughter of David Lamont and Mary Elizabeth (Leach) McCombs and was a graduate of Prophetstown High School. She married Robert J. McCue on September 23, 1965, in Sterling. Throughout her working career, Merrilee worked at various positions: as a realtor for Century 21; operator of the former White Hen Pantry in Rock Falls, IL; she had worked at the former Don Mullery Ford in Dixon, IL; had operated the former Transitions Breast Cancer Shop in Rock Falls. Merrilee was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; daughters, Michelle E. McCue of Sterling, Marcia McCue of Sterling, and Elizabeth (Brent) Fischbach of Morrison, IL; sister Patricia (Don) Stranberg of Sterling; ten grandchildren, Sara (Javier) Padilla, Heather McCue, Ashley McCue (Josh Kirkland), Sydney McCue, Alex Fischbach, Samantha Fischbach, Ethan Fischbach, Grace Fischbach, Jordan Magill, Kora Magill; five great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Victoria, Rosalind, Lennon, and Brohnx.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother John McCombs; sisters Francise Richey and Sandra Druien.
Visitation will be held on Thursday July 26, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until noon, at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue, in Rock Falls, IL.
Private family burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be appreciated.
