Frances Houzenga, 81, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA.
Frances was born on March 30, 1937, in Newton Township, IL, to Peter and Florence (Geerts) VanderVinne. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. She married Bernard “Bun” Houzenga on April 20, 1956, in Fulton, IL. Frances was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, gardening, and canning fruits and vegetables. She was a member of First Reformed Church in Fulton. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Bun; two daughters, Deb (Bill) Swanson of Morrison and Sheila (Mark) Richmond of Tampico, IL; one son, Dewey (Melissa) Houzenga of Morrison; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Balk of Pella, IA, and Dorothy Vanderlaan-Johnson of Morrison; one brother, Maurice VanderVinne of Morrison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Rhonda Houzenga; two sisters, Pauline Pruis and Louise E. Bielema.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., on Friday, June 8, 2018, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Edie Lenz, Pastor of First Reformed Church in Fulton, IL.
The visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 7, 2018, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton. IL.
A memorial to First Reformed Church has been established.
