Harvey L. Schroeder, 84, of Morrison, IL, died Friday, May 25, 2018, at Pleasant View Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Morrison.
Harvey was born September 10, 1933, in Morrison, to Lawrence and Anneta (Vanderlaan) Schroeder. He was educated in the Prairie Center School in rural Whiteside County and was a 1951 graduate of Morrison High School. Harvey served in the U. S. Army National Guard. He married Ruth A. Buikema on June 10, 1955, in Morrison. Harvey was employed by Workman Plumbing and Heating for 37 years ,retiring in 1995. He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church. He was also a member of the Whiteside County Snowbirds Snowmobile Club and served as Regional Director for Northern Illinois Snowmobile Clubs. He enjoyed snowmobiling in northern Wisconsin and Minnesota. He pitched fastpitch softball all over the Midwest for 20 years. Harvey enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and gardening and was an avid Cubs fan.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; one daughter-in-law, Denise Schroeder of Fulton, IL; two grandchildren, Nicole (Daniel) Rose of Knoxville, TN,and Adam Schroeder of Fulton; one great-grandchild; one sister, Judy McCulloh of Morrison; one brother, Arlyn (Shirley) Schroeder of Morrison; one sister-in-law, Emma Schroeder of Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Dennis and Allen Schroeder; one brother, Dan Schroeder; one brother-in-law, Owen McCulloh.
The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Ken Renkes will officiate.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
Memorials have been established to Ebenezer Reformed Church and Pleasant View Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
