With Memorial Day ceremonies a week in the future, Fire Department personnel gathered at Grove Hill Cemetery, N. High Street, Morrison, IL, on Monday, May 21, 2018, about 6:00 p.m. Their purpose was the annual cleaning and embellishment of the Morrison Fire Department Memorial.
First Assistant Chief Joe Bielema dispatched the following men to spread bags of fresh, red mulch, along the semi-circular retaining wall, behind the the black granite tablet: Jeff Eissens, Wes Haan, Brandon Sharp, Andrew Swanstrom, and Keith Wiersema.
Jackson Hose Company was established on June 7, 1876, which will be 142 years ago next month. Visit the memorial to reflect on the dedicated first responders who have protected life and property in the Morrison area over those years. You can admire the handiwork of current firemen.
