Calling All Spencer Tracy Fans

EdwardFinchIf you enjoy classic movies, you are most probably a Spencer Tracy fan.  Easily defined as one of the premier film actors of the 20th century, Spencer Tracy traced his roots to Freeport, IL.  From a turbulent home life as a youth, to his battles with alcoholism, his film career spanned four decades and included over 70 major films.

Edward F. Finch will share life and legend of Spencer Tracy as a presentation on Monday, May 14, 2018, at 6:00 p.m.  Join him at the Windmill Cultural Center, 111 Tenth Avenue, in downtown Fulton, IL, across from the authentic Dutch windmill.

His presentation will examine Tracy’s family background, his career in Hollywood, as his personal relationship with the famed actress Katherine Hepburn.

Finch holds a doctorate in History Education.  For six years was Executive Director of the Stephenson County Museum in Freeport.  Before that he taught English, Speech, Debate, U. S. History, Film Studies, and American Studies at Freeport High School, for over 25 years.  In 2010 the Naval Institute Press published his first book, a biography titled Beneath the Waves:  The Life and Navy of Captain Edwards L. Beach, Jr.  In 2015.  He published the first two novels of his Gabby Gordon Mystery Series:  Assassin Town and Tumbling Blocks.  His latest novel, Elegy, was published in November of 2016.

All monthly programming is sponsored by the Volunteer Millers of de Immigrant with financial assistance by a grant from the D. S. Flikkema Foundation.  The event is free and open to the public.  The facility is accessible to persons with disabilities.  Light refreshments will be served following the presentation.
