High School Reacts To Threat
The PLT#3 School District notified the public of a threat made by a Prophetstown High School student on Thursday morning. The District released this statement.
From the Office of the Superintendent:
“On the morning of March 15, 2018, District Administration was made aware of a statement made by a high school student threatening violence against the school. The district coordinated with law enforcement to investigate this threat. The student was arrested and charges will be filed.
The District will continue to take this matter seriously and will remain vigilant to ensure the welfare of our students and staff. Thank you for your support and understanding at this time.”
Colmone added that the threat was verbal and not directed toward any one person.
Prophetstown Police Chief Bruce Franks issued the following statement.
“On Thursday, March 15th, the Prophetstown Police Department, with assistance from the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the Prophetstown High School to investigate a threat of violence made at the school. After an initial investigation Nathan S. Noble, age 18, of Tampico, IL, was arrested for Disorderly Conduct. Mr. Noble was transported to the Whiteside County Jail. The matter is still under Investigation.
All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.”
The school was put on a soft lock down while the situation was handled.
