The Morrison Ecumenical Chorus will present the Lent and Easter portions of G. F. Handel’s “Messiah,” on Palm Sunday, March 25, 2018. The performance will be at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 601 N. Jackson Street, in Morrison, IL, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
“Messiah” concerts have been sponsored by the Morrison Ministers Council since 1956. A free-will offering will be taken to cover expenses, with any excess proceeds used to fund other Morrison Ministers Council projects.
The entire community is invited to attend this concert. It has become a significant part of Holy Week observations for both the singers and the audiences.
The chorus includes singers from Morrison and surrounding communities, under the direction of Kathy Janicek, Choir Director at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison. Accompanist will be Christine Holmer of Clinton, IA. Soloists will be soprano Connie Swanson-DeSpain and tenors Eric Phend and Luke VanderBleek, Morrison; mezzo-soprano Laurie Wilkins, Mount Carroll; bass Mark Kapusinski, Fulton; trumpeter Ben Logan, Clinton.
