Illinois State Police District 1 Commander Mark Karczewski announced enforcement figures and activity for October 2017.
Illinois State Police District 1 Troopers issued 535 citations and 671 written warnings and made 35 criminal arrests during the month.
- Speeding accounted for 281 citations.
- Occupant restraint violations accounted for 21 citations.
- Distracted driving violations accounted for 24 citations.
Troopers investigated 15 traffic crashes, assisted 73 motorists, and conducted 182 commercial vehicle inspections–23 of which were placed out-of-service for safety reasons. There were five arrests made for Driving Under the Influence.
District 1, which encompasses Carroll, Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside Counties, had one traffic crash fatality in October.
