One week after John and Julie Burleson of Morrison, IL, opened their shop, on Saturday, October 21, 2017, they enjoyed a perfect view of the local Halloween Parade at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, October 28. The couple moved here a year ago from Prophetstown, IL; they are originally from Moline, IL. Co-owners are Burleson’s mother, Helen, and his brother, Steve.
The convenient location is 121 E. Main Street, Morrison. Contact John or Julie at 815-772-0110. They will host an Open House in the future.
Inside are antiques, collectibles, and assorted resale items. Merchandise is not taken for sale on consignment at this time, but the Burlesons are considering that.
The front windows feature vintage furniture, like the caned sewing rocker, below left, and the distinctive glider beside it. The shop has “an 1800’s sewing machine for sale,” said John.
There are several knives in a display case; hanging hand saws; blowtorches; a cowboy hat steamer. Ktichenware, jewelry, a couple coins, art/decor pieces, a Mickey Mouse souvenir cap from Walt Disney World, and other collectibles are neatly displayed.
Comic books from the 1980’s include X-Men, GI Joe, and Batman. There is a supply of vinyl record albums, too.
Near the front windows customers will find seasonal items on display. John Burleson noted they plan to continue that service.
