Marvin E. Hook, 96, of Resthave Home, Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Saturday, August 5, 2017, at the home.
Marvin was born May 7, 1921 in Fulton, to Joseph and Elsie (Borgman) Hook . He attended Fulton schools. He worked at Curtis Company prior to serving in the U. S. Army during WWII, from 1942 to 1945 in France, Germany, Italy, and Austria . On October 4, 1945, he married Beulah Huizenga. They farmed in the Morrison and Albany, IL, areas for 38 years . In 1985, they retired and moved to Fulton. Beulah passed away March 5, 2004. Marv was a member of the First Reformed Church in Fulton and the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching trains, gardening, traveling, watching the river, and visiting the lock and dam.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary (Stephen) Gowan of Morrison, and a son, John (Judy) Hook of Morrison; four grandchildren, Marcus J. (Anna) Hook, Shelley (Ryan) Wilkens, Christina (Mark) Krum, and Julie (Philip) Bielema; seven great-grandchildren, Justine (Eric) DeBoer, Tyler Hook, Marcus Allen Hook, Logan Wilkens, Lara Bielema, Madison Krum, and Mason Krum; a step-great-grandchild, Preston Fookes; two great-great-grandchildren, Braxtyn Hook and Emma DeBoer; one sister, Helen (Harold) Smith of Fulton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah; one sister, Gertrude Venema; one brother, Gerald Hook; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Hook.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

VISITATION: 9:30 a.m., until the time of the service on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
