howard wiersemaHoward J. Wiersema, 86, of Fulton, IL, died Monday, July 24, 2017, at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, Fulton.

Howard was born June 7, 1931, in Ustick Township, IL, to Jacob and Helen (Van Kampen) Wiersema. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Grace E. McCue on May 5, 1951, in Portsmouth, VA. She died May 2, 1983. He then married Connie Klimstra-Wiersema on March 1, 1986, in Fulton. She died June 27, 1995. He then married Anna L. Dykstra-Wierenga on August 15, 1998, in Thomson, IL. She died January 10, 2017. Howard was employed at Drives in Fulton, from 1965 to 1992. He was a member of the Fulton American Legion Post #328. He was a former member of First Reformed Church and was a current member of First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton. Howard enjoyed camping, golfing, bowling, and making his own gadgets and crafts.

Survivors include three daughters, Bonita (Stephen) Bailey of Fulton, Susan (Dan) Wagner of Fulton, and Penny (John) Toureene of Mackinaw, IL; one son, Terry Wiersema of Fulton; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Wiersema of Fulton; six stepdaughters, Sandy (Mark) Hamilton of Fulton, Janice (Kent) Van Dyke of Rock Falls, IL, Karen (Gary) Buis of Coleta, IL, Marcia (Terry) Nielsen of Clinton, IA, Diane (Patrick) Housenga of Thomson, and Angela (John) Vander Eide of Fulton; one stepson, Keith Wiersema of Morrison, IL; 30 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Grace, Connie, and Anna; one son, Howard K. Wiersema; one grandson, Faron Bailey; one great-grandson, Jordan Farr; one stepdaughter, Lori Kramer; one sister, Arlene Smith.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  10:00 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2017, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

OFFICIATING:  Rev. Edie Lenz, Pastor of First Reformed Church, Fulton, IL

VISITATION:  5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2017, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT:  Fulton Township Cemetery, Fulton, IL

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
