Dr. Yaklich Donates Eye Drops to Firemen

Posted by

Sometimes great gifts come in small packages.  On Wednesday, June 7, 2017, Dr. Bradley Yaklich rode his bicycle one-handed, carrying a small box of Refresh over-the-counter, eye drops to the Morrison Fire Department Chief, Dave Benters.  They met at 6:30 p.m. at the station, 206 W. Main Street, Morrison, IL.  Dr. Yaklich owns Vision Source Morrison, 626 E. Lincolnway.

Optometist Yaklich donated 48 small boxes of Refresh Optive Gel Drops, “a pre-wetting solution to put in the eyes [of firefighters] before calls.  They can be used after fire calls and in smokey environments.  If there is flashburn from chemical fires, use [the drops] to heal faster,” suggested Dr. Yaklich.  The expiration date is “two years” from now he said, so they product should serve the men for a long time.  Chief Benters said the drops also could be used “during training sessions.”

The Chief holds an information sheet from the Refresh America campaign, “sending eye drops to our First Responders….A program that gives back to you–America’s best….you’re receiving this in-kind donation from Allergan, the makers of Refresh–the #1 doctor recommended brand of artificial tears….We hope that this donation brings you relief when Dry Eye symptoms ooccur, and thank you for your continued service.”

Dr. Yaklich, right, noted he was not given a supply of eye drops to donate last year.  He was pleased to be able to offer them to Morrison Fire Department members.
