Ribbon Cutting for David Prator, Advantage Care Health

Posted by

Dr. David Prator, DC, owner of Advantage Care Health, has moved into “The Olde House” belonging to the late Walter Westendorf and former location of Lion and The Lamb salon.  If that does not pinpoint the site, look for football helmets in the window of 223 E. Main Street, Morrison, IL.  Dr. Prator is open by appointment Monday-through-Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Call Dr. Prator at 630-730-6460 to discuss your health needs.

After earning a Bachelor’s Degree, in 2002 he received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree and generated “a lot of sports persons as clients.”  He is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician.  Dr. Prator is a past Board Member of the American Football Association.  Those facts explain the seven players’ and coaches’ helmets on display.  Pitcher Kerry Wood’s Chicago Cubs framed jersey and other photographs will start a sports conversation.

He did charity work for the University of Notre Dame in Indiana.  “Coach Brian Kelly would get helmets and game balls to auction for kids that were in under-served areas.  They had no money for equipment.  The American Football Coaches Association raised money, and I worked [with them] in Chicago[, IL.]  He worked with Chicago Fire Major League Soccer team as well as Major League Baseball and National Football League players.

His youth clients–on soccer and football teams–received sports medicine treatment, too.

He did he end up on Main Street?  Dr. Prator visited a close friend’s Morrison farm in 2016; he now rents it.  “I had the opportunity to live on a beautiful, little farm here and get away from the rat race of Naperville[, IL.]”  He opened the first office there in 2003 and soon added four more:  Marseilles, Morris, Seneca, and Utica, IL.  “I had medical doctors, chiropractors, and a physical therapist in my office.  Now it is only me.  I don’t have any reason not to” make a bold move.

Beginning in mid-June 2017, he is available for boys’ and girls’ sports physicals; the fee is $40.  He has been working with local Junior and Senior high athletes.

Dr. Prator offers several treatment services:

  • workman’s compensation injuries
  • sports medicine
  • medical weight loss
  • nutritional supplements
  • standard Chiropractic care
  • physical therapy
  • auto and accident injuries,

His treatment goal for the latter is “to rehabilitate neck and back injuries [as soon as possible].  The effects of whiplash normally don’t show for six months-to-a-year.”  He devises a system and gives equipment for patients to follow at home.  “There is a 1000% success rate, if they follow the program!” he stated.  The combination approach, using the Graston Technique, breaks down scar tissue from muscle tears, caused by an injury; chronic overuse (repetitive motion); car accident.

Have Dr. Prator analyze your gait and the pressure of your heel strike and pushoff.  He can custom make footwear and orthotics.

Advantage Care Health sells unique Z-Coil Pain Relief Footwear for adults in a variety of styles:  sneaker, clog, strapped sandal, boot, and slip-on.  The brand “cushions impact with the ground by 50%.  It returns 40-50% of the energy a person expends, thereby reducing fatigue.”  He recommends this footwear to those who suffer from “hip, leg, ankle, foot, or back pain; diabetic foot discomfort; after-surgery hip pain.”

Each pair sells for $150, reduced by nearly 50%–like the reduction in impact they generate.  Take a test walk at Dr. Prator’s office.
