Morrison United Methodist Church designed a community event at “the best place to be this Valentine’s Day,” Thursday, February 14, 2013.  The Heritage Hall, 200 W. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL, offered a “Dessert Fantasia” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Three activities made it a pleasant evening.  Funds raised will support the church’s missions.

From 6:30 to 7:00 attendees selected a variety of edibles and enrobed them in chocolate from the chocolate fountain.  Pretzels, Ruffles potato chips, vanilla cookies and wafers, pound cake, and strawberries were coated.  Beverages were served.

From 7:00 to 7:30, The Heritage Trio performed in the sanctuary.  This popular, talented ensemble includes left-to-right, vocalist Jacinda Voss and Diane Holtz on keyboard, both of Prophetstown, IL, and Morrison’s Aaron Johnson on bass.

After the concert, participants returned to Heritage Hall and their assigned place at an elegant table for eight, including a hostess or two who designed the decor.  Plates of assorted scrumptious desserts were passed aroung the table.  Guests sampled several with coffee, punch, or tea.  There were a variety of attractive themes.

At left, Cindy Schenck chose a feminine pink theme for her table.  She is standing with husband Paster Dan Schenck.  Seated are guests Judy and Larry Sieh and Marge Schleuning.  Soothing Carribbean colors and ocean items decorated the table at right, designed by Gretchen Bush.  Lyle Bush, Gretchen, and Bill and Karen Huber posed for a photo.

Colleen Buckwalter, center, designed the first table below.  Seated is guest Jean Reed, and husband Mike Buckwalter is standing.  Next is a tablescape designed by Betty Steinert, seated with husband Gary, and Sally Gray, who is standing with her husband Craig.

In the first photo, left-to-right, Mike and Charla Olson and Al and Georgia Schaver enjoyed the sophisticated black and white decor Olson created for her guests.  At Sandra Crouse’s festive table, seated left-to-right were family members Bart and Ellen Smith and Cathie Bell.  Standing were Gary Bell, Crouse, and Bud McWorthy.

Carole Patton’s red theme was enjoyed by Dennis and Jill Metcalf; Connie Baar, who celebrated her wedding anniversay with husband Roger (not shown); Patton; Kenneth and Mary Jo Gooley; the Editor.
