Posted by

country road 009On Thursday, March 30, 2017, the Volunteer Millers of Fulton’s de Immigrant windmill are hosting their next monthly event, beginning at 6:00 p.m. This program will take place at the Windmill Cultural Center located at 111 10th Avenue, Fulton, IL, across from the de Immigrant. These events are funded by a grant from D. S. Flikkema Foundation.

A program titled “Off the Beaten Path” will be presented by John Purvis of Princeton, IL. Purvis, a native of Bureau County, has a deep fascination with all types of history. Local history holds a special place for him. Throughout the years, he has studied this history using books, magazines, and burgeoning photography, that documents the past. Now in his retirement, John travels across Illinois exploring different, often forgotten, back roads and country lanes, in search of obscure local history.

Purvis found that each individual city, town, and village has a story to tell. Be a part of this fascinating glimpse into the past, and capture a taste of Illinois history, along with the spirit of the people who live here.

All programming at the Windmill Cultural Center is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served after the presentation.

The facility is accessible to persons with disabilities.

For more information, visit the Windmill Cultural Center or call the Fulton Tourism Director at 815-589-3925. Please follow the de Immigrant Facebook page updates.
