Heinz talked in detail about the events leading up to, during, and after the attack on the Davis homestead. Out of the twenty-three white settlers on the homestead, three people survived, Rachel and Sylvia Hall, along with their brother. After several days, a successful trade of the girls was accomplished with the help with a Native American named White Crow. The girls were reunited with their brother at Fort Blue Mounds. Rachel and Sylvia Hall both went on to married and having 11 kids apiece in their later lives. In 1847, Sylvia Horn (Hall) gave an interviewed that recounted her struggles of the events back in 1832.
