On Saturday, January 14, 2017, the Morrison High School Pons traveled to Bureau Valley High School for an Illinois Drill Team Association (IDTA) competition. They not only received a qualifying score for State, but they received the highest score of the IDTA portion and the second-highest score of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) portion!
On Saturday, January 21, these talented girls traveled to Geneva High School for IHSA Sectionals. The girls placed fourth out of 15, and qualified for State. IHSA State will be held this weekend, Friday, January 27, and Saturday, January 28, in Bloomington, IL. They perform Friday morning for pre-lims and must earn 10th place or higher, out of 30 teams, in order to advance to Saturday’s event.
On Thursday, January 26, the team departs. We urge family, friends, and supporters of the MHS Pons to come join us at the Morrison High School parking lot, 643 Genesee Avenue, Morrison, IL, after school. Help give a supportive send-off for this State-qualifying team. We will leave at approximately 3:30 p.m.
The MHS Pons are set to perform at 11:33 a.m. on Friday morning, January 27. They should announce those teams advancing to State at 1:30 p.m. Keep these talented athletes in your thoughts throughout the day.
IDTA State will be held in Springfield, IL, on Saturday, February 11.
