Gertrude E. Puels, 103, of Rock Falls, IL, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, IL.
Born September 13, 1913, in Lyndon Township, she was the daughter of Miles and Elizabeth (Meyers) Hannis. She married Allen H. Puels on June 3, 1936, in Morrison, IL. He died February 6, 2002. Gert attended the rural Whiteside County schools and graduated from Morrison High School in 1931. She graduated from Sterling Public Hospital in 1935 attaining her R.N. degree. She was a registered nurse for many years and also served as school nurse at Rock Falls and Sterling High Schools. Gert was a member of Rock Falls United Methodist Church for many years and also belonged to the Royal Neighbors of America, The Questers, and the Whiteside County Historical Society.
She is survived by her son, Neil “Skip” Puels of Rock Falls; many nieces and nephews; special friends who loved her very much.
Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2015, at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, IL.
Reverend Dr. Solomon Sudhakar, Pastor of Rock Falls United Methodist Church, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Rock Falls United Methodist Church in her memory.
