November 28 City Council Report

On Monday, November 28, 2016, the City of Morrison Council Meeting convened at 7:00 p.m. in the Whiteside County Board Room, 400 N. Cherry Street, Morrison, IL.  Mayor Everett Pannier called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.; he called for adjournment at 7:16.  In attendance were City Clerk Melanie Schroeder, City Administrator Barry Dykhuizen; Treasurer Evan Haag, Chief of Police Brian Melton; Aldermen Curt Bender, Arlyn Deets, Dale Eizenga, Dave Helms, Kenneth Mahaffey, Vernon Tervelt, and Mick Welding.  Harvey Zuidema was absent.

Items for Consideration and Possible Action
     1. Ordinance #16-20, An Ordinance authorizing the issuance of General Obligation Refunding Bonds (Alternate Revenue Source), Series 2016 of the City of Morrison, Whiteside County, IL, in an aggregate principal amount of not to exceed $2,100,000, for the purpose of refinancing certain outstanding obligations and paying for costs related thereto, and providing for the levy of a direct annual tax for the payment of the principal of and interest on said bonds

Items for Consideration, Discussion, and Information–The Mayor reported three conversations last week with residents who wondered if the time for collection of leaves might be extended.  He will meet this week with CA Dykhuizen and Moring Disposal and pose the question.  Today was the last scheduled day for leaf pick up.  Alderman Deets thanked the Mayor and Council for “the nice arrangement, lots of people [at his late mother’s] visitation, and cards.”  CA Dykhuizen reminded the Council of the Saturday, December 3, Christmas Walk.  Alderman Eizenga asked where will the locally-filmed movie [“Snowflakes and Diamonds”] be shown.  It will be at the Crave Building, Base and Market Streets at 7:00 p.m.
