With a 6:00 p.m. temperature stuck at 85° on Wednesday, August 3, 2016, it was ideal weather tor the 6th annual Water Extravaganza, hosted by Ebenezer Reformed Church, 309 E. Park Street, Morrison, IL.

During this free community event, at least 100 wet children and adults spread across the parking lot, splashed in shallow blacktop puddles, lobbed water balloons, and squirted each other with a variety of squirt guns, super-soakers, and a hose.

Crowd

As the soaking subsided, Pastor Gerald Norman reminded the crowd to enjoy “cookies and brownies that will probably ruin your supper” and to pick up gobs of shattered balloon pieces.  The person collecting the most debris would win $20, with lesser amounts for the second and third place pickers.

Jennie Pruis, Co-Director of Children’s Ministries along with Ann Brackemyer, stated that was a good incentive to encourage  the clean up.  Volunteers help with preparing water balloons, refreshments, and clean up.  Sunday, July 31, and Monday, August 1, ten people spent two hours each night filling 7000 water balloons.  They were splatted well before 6:30.
