The City of Morrison Parks and Recreation Department is planning the first annual “Summer Extravaganza” on Saturday, July 30, 2016, from noon to 8:00 p.m. at the Morrison Sports Complex, located at 315 Bishop Road, Morrison, IL.
Individuals must pre-register to participate in any of several food eating contests during this event:
- Buffalo Wild Wings in Sterling, IL–Blazin’ Wings Challenge
- DQ Grill & Chill of Morrison–Hot Dog Eating Contest
- Happy Joe’s of Morrison–Ice Cream Eating Contests for kids and adults
- Hardee’s of Morrison–Thickburger Eating Contest.
Register at each respective restaurant. Show up 15 minutes prior to the contest at the main Concession stand at the Sports Complex on Saturday, July 30.
During the “Summer Extravaganza,” enjoy
- kids’ activities
- concessions
- a corn boil sponsored by the Whiteside County Young Leaders
- adult bags and volleyball tournaments.
Music will be provided by “30 West.”
The evening will close with fireworks (weather permitting), sponsored by B & H Contractors; Farmers National Bank; Kophamer & Blean Realty; Kunes Country Auto of Morrison; Whiteside News Sentinel; WSDR 1240 AM; Morrison Youth Baseball and Softball; CGH Medical Center; FS Fast Stop; Community State Bank; KROS 1340 AM/105.9 FM; Morrison Community Hospital; Schuler Motors, Inc.

Noon: Gates Open
1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.: Ice Cream Eating Contest sponsored by Happy Joe’s
2:00 p.m.: Monster Thickburger Eating Contest sponsored by Hardee’s
4:00 p.m.: Blazin’ Wings Challenge sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings in Sterling
6:00 p.m.: Hot Dog Eating Contest sponsored by DQ Grill & Chill
4:00 to 8:00 p.m.: Live Music with “30 West”
Approximately 9:30 p.m.: Fireworks (weather permitting).
