Virginia Van Zuiden (1937 – 2016)

virginia van zuidenVirginia Van Zuiden, 79, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, June 13, 2016, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.

Virginia was born May 7, 1937, in Clinton, IA, to Edward T. and Pauline B. (Stone) Schuler. She attended Clinton grade schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. She attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. Virginia married Raymond K. Van Zuiden on June 10, 1957, in Morrison. He died January 20, 2013. She was employed by Eddie Schuler Chrysler-Dodge in Morrison for 20 years. Later she was employed by Dr. Jane Chiapinelli, DDS, and as a secretary for First Presbyterian Church in Morrison. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women; served as the church treasurer; taught Sunday school; sang in the church choir. She was a member of the P.E.O., was a Brownie leader, and also served on the Morrison United Way Board of Directors. Virginia was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters, Cindy (Doug) LeMoine of Dubuque, IA, Shari (Kevin) Kuehl of Morrison, and Becky (Rick) Rojas of Dixon, IL; 14 grandchildren, Hannah LeMoine, Corrie Keegan, Alec Keegan, and Collin Keegan, Stacie (Derek) Brown, Kim (Nathan) Shipley, Michael (Kassi) Kuehl, Katie (Rich Sisk) Kuehl, Lindsay (Curt) Workman, Brent (Heather) Toppert, Matt (Andrea) Toppert, Andrew ( Tori ) Toppert; Tara (Jon) James, Aaron Riojas; 18 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Pat (Jim) Collins of LeClaire, IA, Beverly (Laurence) Bealer of Morrison, Linda (Dean) Edwards of Waterloo, NE, Mrs. Mary Taylor of North Carolina, and Sara (Paul) Vlajcic of Geneva, IL; one brother, Mark (Susan) Schuler of Morrison, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; one great grandson, Cayden Toppert; one brother, Eddie Robert Schuler.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE:  11:00 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, IL

OFFICIATING:  Rev. Dr. Michael Selburg, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, IL

VISITATION:  5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2016, at First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, IL

At her request, her body has been donated to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois for medical science study.

Memorials to First Presbyterian Church, Morrison, IL, and the P.E.O. have been established.
