05/13/16 at 3:50 p.m. Whiteside County Sheriff Deputies investigated a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 88 at milemarker 29. A vehicle driven by Jay Sudak, 55 of Menomonee Falls, WI, was traveling westbound and fell asleep. The vehicle entered the median and rolled into the north ditch. Sudak and his passenger exited the vehicle shortly before the vehicle became engulfed in flames. Sudak was cited for Improper Lane Usage and released on a Notice to Appear. Sudak and his passenger were treated on scene. Whiteside County was assisted by Illinois State Police, Prophetstown Police, Tampico Police, and Prophetstown Fire and EMS.
