Morrison Grand Square 2016 Graduates

Posted by

Morrison’s square dance club held a graduation party and dance for its new students Monday, April 18, 2016, at the City of Morrison Community Room in Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL.  Forty students and dancers from various clubs gathered to celebrate and experience dancing with people from many communities.

President Butch VanderSchaaf began the ceremony by thanking rhose who helped create the Morrison Grand Squares seven years ago.  He outlined various charities the club has donated to over the years.  Dancing demonstrations have been performed at nursing homes, community celebrations, schools, and churches.  The club has also volunteered at blood drives.

Caller and teacher Don Sprosty, from Bettendorf, IA, entertained the crowd with jokes and instructions for dance maneuvers, such as the “no hands” dance.

Many refreshments were served during the evening.

Beginner dancing will resume in January 2017.  If you are interested in dancing with us or if you have any questions about our dance activity–that promotes fun, friendship, and exercise–see our contact information at our website www.squaredancemorrison.com.
