The 2016 offspring of American Bald Eagles Liberty and Justice have been named, by public decree. Online voting began Monday, May 2, and concluded Monday, May 9, with Star and Sky earning a majority of the 5000 votes.
The public selected from six paired options:
- Star and Sky–28%
- Hunter and Fisher–22%
- Patriot and Joy–19%
- Scout and Talon–14%
- Sheldon and Amy–9%
- Pilgrim and Valor–6%.
The first name, Star, was given to the first eaglet to hatch, on Friday, April 8. Sky hatched Monday, April 11.

The eaglet of 2011 was named Freedom. Triplets born in 2012 were Faith, Hope, and Spirit. Twins Hope (again) and Glory came in 2013. In 2014, the lone eaglet was named Rudy, to honor late Davenport Police Sergeant Kevin “Rudy” Marxen, who died in February. Neither egg laid in 2015 survived.
