One Run Enough for Fillies

Posted by

The Morrison Fillies made the long trek to Peru St. Bede on Thursday, May 5, 2016, and needed a seventh-inning rally to scratch out a win of 1-0.

Morrison’s Lauren Pannier and St. Bede’s Lau were locked into a pitcher’s duel for six innings.  Pannier allowed only one hit, and Lau limited the Fillies to only three.  The Lady Bruins put runners on in the fourth inning.  A Morrison error and a single by Nowalski had runners on second and third with only one out.  Then Pannier forced a ground out and a pop up to get out  of the inning scoreless.

In the seventh inning St. Bede’s May took the mound in relief of Lau and was quickly greeted by Jaeden Workman‘s double.  Workman  was moved to third by a sacrifice bunt by Pannier before she was plated on a Madison Steines single–with the only run of the game.  Brooke Stralow closed the door on the Lady Bruins in relief in the seventh, and the Fillies left with a 1-0 win.
