Tom Slothower soon will become a Nonagenerian, with a birth date of April 4, 1933. He will be 32, 872 days old–but who’s counting! During his lifetime Tom has held many interesting positions, including paper boy; United States Air Force cryptographer; Korean War veteran; radio announcer; insurance agent; School Teacher in Morrison for 28 years. He enjoyed performing in many musical experiences.
Do you remember Mr. Slothower when he looked like this? After working as an insurance agent, he went back to school at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL, and earned his teaching degree. From 1972-2000 he taught in Morrison, beginning at Northside. He taught 4th grade; 5th grade; 6th grade Science; finishing with 3rd graders at Southside.
Tom and his wife of 65 years, Phyllis, are parents to sons, Todd and Glenn.
