Morrison High School Mustangs defeated the Amboy, IL, Clippers 12-0 in five innings, on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, after a seven-run explosion in the fifth inning.
Morrison scored in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Tate Renkes, a two-run single by Justin Rodriquez, an RBI single by Justin Jensen, a fielder’s choice, and a two-run single by Nick Klimson.
Morrison’s Ethan Fischach was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. He singled in the second and fourth innings.
The Mustangs’ Joey Brackemyer kept Amboy off the scoreboard for all five innings he was on the bump. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits, while striking out nine.
Barlow couldn’t get it done on the hill for Amboy, taking the loss. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked four, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
After posting two runs in the second, Morrison again scored two in the fourth. In the second, Morrison scored on an RBI single by Fischbach, plating Dylan Keller.
A single by Rodriguez ignited the offense, bringing home Fischbach. That was followed by Brackemyer’s single, plating Rodriguez.
