The final home game for the Morrrison High School Fillies didn’t end as hoped. The neighboring Fulton, IL, Steamers stymied the Fillies in the final quarter, to take home a 48-40 victory.
Pre-game ceremonies recognized departing MHS Seniors Jordan Bush, Ilirijana Dzeladini, and Emily Wallander. The Fillies took the floor in hopes of avenging a December 2015 loss at the Erie Holiday Tournamant to the Lady Steamers.
The first three quarters were back-and-forth with scrappy defense and balanced contributions. Emma Melton, Wallander, and Emma Sitzmore provided the Fillies’ scoring in the first quarter, and Church and Workman carried the point load in the second. The half ended with Morrison up by two at 23-21.
The fourth quarter started with the Fillies up by one and ended with the Steamers in charge by eight. Fulton went to the free throw 18 times and made 12, versus the Fillies’ 2-for-2.
Final: Fulton 48, Morrison 40.
Morrison scoring was headed by Kassidee Church with 19 points, and by Price with 18 and Leonard with12 for Fulton.
