4th Morrison Recycling Day June 21

The 4th Annual Morrison Community Clean-Up and Collection Day will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 649 W. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL.  The location is behind KAS eRecycling/Stralows’.  Please enter from the east side of the Shell gas station and watch for traffic control.

This event is open to households within the 61270 zipcode only.  For more information, please contact Morrison Chamber of Commerce at 815-772-3757.  There is no charge to dispose of items, but donations will be accepted.

The Morrison Community Clean-Up and Collection Day is sponsored by Morrison Chamber of Commerce, with assistance from
KAS eRecycling; First Presbyterian Church; Morrison Christian Reformed Church; Morrison Boy Scouts; Morrison Lions Club; Morrison Police Department; Morrison Auto Supply; Roggy’s Scrap Metal; Schuler Motors.

  • We will not accept paint or hazardous waste items:  chemicals, fluorescent bulbs, oil-based paints, or pesticides.  The Clinton County Solid Waste Agency, 4292 220th Street, Clinton, IA, accepts household hazardous waste materials.  For fees and to schedule an appointment call 563-243-4749, extension 102.
  • Uncovered or unsecured loads to the landfill are subject to an additional fee.  Latex paint is not accepted (not considered a hazardous material) and should be dried out and put it in the garbage with the lid off.
  • Bulky items such as furniture or other large, miscellaneous items are collected by Moring Disposal through the City of Morrison Collection program.  Residents may place one bulky item at the curb each week at no charge.  Contact Moring Disposal at 800-423-0759 to notify their dispatch department prior to your collection day.

New this year is on-site document shredding, sponsored by Farmers National Bank and provided by Cintas Mobile Truck.  Acceptable Items for collection include the following.

American Flags
Ammunition
Cell Phones (benefits hearing and vision programs of the Lions of Illinois Foundation)

Electronics including computers, televisions, VCR’s, radios, stereos, copiers, and telephones
Eye Glasses (benefits hearing and vision programs of the Lions of Illinois Foundation)
Hearing Aids (benefits hearing and vision programs of the Lions of Illinois Foundation)
Household Appliances including vacuum cleaners, microwaves, power and lawn tools, refrigerators, washer/dryers, dehumidifiers, and freezers

Ink Jet Cartridges (benefits MCUD #6)
Keys (benefits hearing and vision programs of the Lions of Illinois Foundation)
Lead-Acid Batteries (6-, 12-, and 24-volt lead-acid batteries from vehicles, motorcycles, boats, RV’s, and heavy equipment  prescription Medications–and over-the-counter

Motor Oil–Drop-off at Schuler Motors garage, 727 W. Lincolnway.
Paper Products should be bundled by type:  catalogs, broken-down corrugated boxes, encyclopedias, hard/soft cover books, junk mail scraps, magazines, newspapers, and telephone books (benefits Enterprises)

Scrap Metal
