Carroll, Lee, and Whiteside 4-H’ers had a day to remember at the 2014 Illinois State Fair. These 4-H’ers earned the right to advance to the State Fair by being “the best of the best” at their County 4-H Shows. The State Fair experience presents Illinois 4-H’ers with a unique opportunity to have their project judged by experts. They are not really competing against one another; they are competing against a standard.
4-H members spend all year preparing their projects for County fairs and 4-H shows. In recognition for having been chosen to exhibit at the State Fair Junior Show, each youth receives an Award of Excellence for attending. Superior ratings are awarded at the discretion of the judges to entries they consider outstanding.
Following is a list of all Whiteside 4-H’ers who showed at the State Fair this year. Illinois youngsters between 8 and 19 years of age, or in the third grade, are eligible to join 4-H. For more information on local clubs, contact the Carroll, Lee, Whiteside Extension Office at 815-835-2070.
