Activities Director Angie Strobbe reported “over 5000” colorful, plastic eggs had been prepared for youngsters to gather, on Friday, April 7, 2023. Holding a variety of bags, baskets, and buckets, they arrived before the 2:30 p.m. start time and waited impatiently, on the back patio of Homestead of Morrison Assisted Living & Memory Care, 403 Scenic Street, Morrison, IL.
Inside, the 0-to-3 year olds scoured the carpeted fireplace room for juice containers, fruit snacks, and little prizes. Next came two age-based heats, for those age 4-through-ten. Younger kids gathered eggs from the patio edge (bottom of photo) to the gazebo; older boys and girls had an expanse that ended at the white fencing, including eggs tucked into tree branches.
A Golden Ticket for a bicycle was found by one child in each group; others received special prizes.
“One-two-three-go!” began the dash from patio to gazebo. Then, children sat and opened each egg, seeking a special item written on paper.
Below, Pastor Mike Selburg assisted his son, Henry–who needed a bigger bucket!
Homestead staff and residents and parents were given a mild, sunny afternoon to visit with others, as resident Karen Mouw discovered with Easter Bunny. They were so congenial, it was as if they knew each other well.
