2021 Memorial Day Ceremony and New Parade Route

Posted by

DennisVanzuidenSingsAnthemThe 2021 Memorial Day Ceremony will be held in Morrison, IL, on Monday, May 31.  The parade will start at 10:30 a.m.

One half hour before the start time, parade lineup will begin on E. Knox Street at N. Madison Street, next to the Sullivan’s Foods parking lot.

Veterans are invited to ride the Veterans’ hayrack, again provided by Dave Damhoff.

Because of construction on downtown Main Street, beginning at N. Madison Street, this year’s parade will travel west on Knox Street, (past the lower Courthouse entrance); take the slight jog left at Cherry Street onto Knox Street; pass the Farm Bureau Building to Genesee Street; turn north onto Genesee and continue to Grove Hill Cemetery on High Street.

The Memorial Service will be at the Veterans Memorial and Pavilion starting at approximately 11:00, allowing time for everyone to travel from the parade route.

This year’s speaker is yet to be determined

The Invocation and Benediction will be given by the Reverend Father James Brzezinski, Pastor of Church of St. Anne-Episcopal in Morrison.

Showcasing the most-recent Memorial Day Ceremony, on Monday, May 25, 2020, was this huge banner.
