Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate 2019 Christmas services at any of these 16 Morrison, IL, churches.
Bethesda Lutheran Church–301 W. South Street, will have Candlelight service on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24, at 5:00 p.m., with Holy Communion. This service will be filled with traditional hymns and carols and Bethesda Sr. Choir anthems.
Brethren in Christ Church–209 E. Knox Street, will have Candlelight Christmas Eve service Tuesday, December 24, at 7:00 p.m., with the congregation singing traditional carols, solos, and guitar music. There is a nursery. Goodies will be served. All are welcome to attend.
Crossroads Community Church–Morrison Institute of Technology, 701 Portland Avenue (IL Route 78), on Tuesday, December 24, at 6:00 p.m., will have Candlelight Christmas Eve praise at the beginning and conclusion of reading the Gospel Christmas story. The congregation will sing traditional carols and hear the Praise Team. There is a nursery. To “Pray in the New Year,” Family Fun Night will be held from 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 31, to 12:30 a.m., January 1, 2020, at the Community Center, 201 W. Market Street.
Ebenezer Reformed Church–309 E. Park Street, will have Candlelight Christmas Eve service Tuesday, December 24, at 6:00 p.m. The congregation will sing traditional carols. Soloist Michael Blean offers special music.
Emmanuel Reformed Church–202 E. Morris Street, will have Candlelight Christmas Eve service Tuesday, December 24, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., with familiar carols and hymns sung by the congregation and other beautiful music. Pastor Al Pruis will deliver the message. Child care is provided in the nursery.
First Presbyterian Church–100 E. Lincolnway, will have a 5:00 p.m., family-friendly, Candlelight Christmas Eve service with Choir and carols sung by the congregation.
Kingdom Life Community Church–11429 Ward Road, will have pre-Christmas Candlelight service on Sunday, December 22, at 6:00 p.m., with carols sung by the congregation, special music, and Holy Communion.
Morrison Christian Church–201 S. Genesee Street,on Wednesday, December 11, the Warriors in God’s Service (WINGS) youth group held a program, “A Christmas Prayer,” at the candlelight service; on Tuesday, December 17 they caroled at three Senior centers. There will be a pre-Christmas service with Holy Communion on Sunday, December 22, at 10:00 a.m.
Morrison Christian Reformed Church–300 W. South Street, will have a pre-Christmas service with Holy Communion on Sunday, December 22, at 8:45 a.m. Christmas Eve service at 4:15 p.m., on Tuesday, December 24, will feature music and carols sung by the congregation.
Morrison First Baptist Church–406 E. Maple Avenue, will hold a Candlelight Christmas Eve service with Holy Communion and carols at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 24. There will be a Christmas service on Sunday, December 29, at 10:00 a.m. There is a nursery.
Morrison United Methodist Church–200 W. Lincolnway, will hold two Candlelight Christmas Eve services on Tuesday, December 24. The family-oriented 4:00 p.m. service includes a Children’s Message, hymns sung by the congregation, and an offertory solo. The 7:00 service features hymns sung by the congregation, carols by the choir, lighting the Advent and Christ Candles, and Holy Communion.
Our Savior Lutheran Church–21496 Hazel Road, will hold a Candlelight Christmas Eve service Tuesday, December 24, at 6:00 p.m. The service is a hymn sing with a short message.
St. Anne’s Episcopal Church–401 N. Cherry Street, will have rites and masses spanning the last day of Advent to Epiphany. Click here for the full schedule. December 22, 4th Sunday of Advent: 9:00 a.m., Mass – Holy Eucharist Rite II. December 24, Christmas Eve: 5:30 p.m., Solemn High Mass – Holy Eucharist Rite II with hymns and carols. Our service will begin with the blessing of the Crèche, including procession to the Crèche by our children. December 25, Christmas: 9:00 a.m. Wednesday Morning Mass – Holy Eucharist Rite II with hymns and carols.
St. Mary Catholic Church–13320 Garden Plain Road, will hold Candlelight (Christmas Eve) Holy Day Vigil Mass on Tuesday, December 24, at 5:30 p.m., with Cantors leading songs. At 11:30 caroling will take place prior to Midnight Mass. On Wednesday, December 25, the Nativity of the Lord Mass starts at 9:00 a.m., with Cantors leading songs. Holy Day Vigil Mass on Tuesday, December 31, begins at 5:30 p.m. Solemnity of Mary Mother of God Holy Day Mass is Wednesday, January 1, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. All masses offer Holy Communion.
St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church LCMS–601 N. Jackson Street, will hold Tuesday, December 24, Candlelight Christmas Eve worship at 7:00 p.m. There will be music by trumpet and organ, choir, and hymns sung by the congregation. On Monday, December 25, the Christmas Day service starts at 9:00 a.m., and Holy Communion is offered.
Spring Valley Reformed Church–10960 Spring Valley Road, will have Candlelight Christmas Eve service on Tuesday, December 24, at 6:00 p.m., with Holy Communion. Praise and worship Christmas music will be featured.
