2018 Fair Raffle and Drawing Winners

RaffleForACauseDuring the 2018 Whiteside County Fair, visitors had several opportunities to support Whiteside County, and Morrison, IL, organizations.  On Saturday, August 18, 2018, drawings were made.  Winners from seven cities are listed below.

50/50 raffle tickets were available for purchase throughout the week.  Half the $1430 proceeds will be split to support the Whiteside County Fair and Morrison Athletic Boosters.  The other half ($715) went home with Charles Bridges.

White Oaks Therapeutic Equestrian Center (WHOA) raffled off a “Yeti Picnic Party Bundle,” with a total value of $500.  The bundle included a Yeti Tundra 65 cooler (charcoal) valued at $350; two, heavy duty Coleman sling chairs (gray), valued at $75; a Sunflora picnic backpack valued at $75.  The picnic backpack contained a picnic blanket; table service for four; insulated food compartment; cutting board; wine “glasses;” a wine bag.  All proceeds will go to WHOA’s therapeutic horseback riding program for individuals with disabilities.  The winner was Krystal Spencer of Sterling, IL.

Whiteside County Republicans sold raffle tickets for three Butcher Shop Meat Bundles; each contained pork, chicken, and beef.  The bundle winners were Rachel Crandall, Prophetstown, IL, (value of $250);  Jim Coers, Tampico, IL, (value of $125); Jim Starr, Rock Falls, IL, (value of $75.)

Whiteside County Democrats held three giveaways.  Lisa Sage, Morrison, IL, won a handmade, twin-size quilt made by Sue Austin.  Monica Anderson and Cheryl Geiger, both of Morrison, won two tickets each to see the Cubs play the Pirates, in Chicago, IL, on Wednesday, September 26, at 7:05 p.m.

Citizens for Schmidt raffled a new, Polaris Sportsman 450 4-Wheeler, which Dawn Young demonstrated.  The winner was Ken Stralow, Morrison.  The handmade, 60 x 75″ quilt, made by Susan Hunter Hamstra, was won by Carrina Geerts, Morrison.  Throughout Fair week people wearing their Schmidt for Sheriff t-shirt could have a “selfie” photograph taken with Schmidt.  Their names were eligible for a $50 cash drawing.  Winners were Jody Borgman, Fulton, IL, and Sheena Merema, Morrison.

Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Patrol is fundraising for personal equipment (such as bullet-proof vests and Auxiliary Deputy uniforms.)  Winners could receive cash or a Springfield Armory piece.  Josh Shaw, Clinton, IA, was the winner of a Saint Rifle (or $400.)  Jerry Frump, Sterling, won an Xds Semi-automatic Handgun (or $200.)
