2017 Christmas Services

MaryChristAngelsSunday, December 24, 2017, is the fourth Sunday of Advent as well as Christmas Eve.  Celebrate the 2017 Christmas season, during morning or evening services, at any of these 16 Morrison, IL, churches.   Some churches also hold Monday, December 25, Christmas morning services.

Bethesda Lutheran Church–301 W. South Street, will have the Fourth Sunday of Advent service Sunday, December 24, at 9:00 a.m.  There will be fellowship with coffee and cookies after the service.

Brethren in Christ Church–209 E. Knox Street, will have Christmas Eve service Sunday, December 24, at 10:30 a.m.  There will be a variety of music by church musicians and children and fellowship with cookies after the service.  A Candlelit service will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Crossroads Community Church–Morrison Institute of Technology, 701 Portland Avenue (IL Route 78), will have Christmas Eve service Sunday, December 24, at 10:00 a.m.  There will be a praise band and fellowship with cookies after the service.

Ebenezer Reformed Church–309 E. Park Street, will have Christmas Eve service Sunday, December 24, at 9:30 a.m.  There will be a coffee hour after the service.  A one-hour Candlelit service will be held at 6:00 p.m., with the choir and soloists.

Emmanuel Reformed Church–202 E. Morris Street, will have Christmas Eve service Sunday, December 24, at 9:00 a.m.  There will be a praise team and full choir, with fellowship and cookies after the service.

First Baptist Church–406 E. Maple Avenue, will hold Sunday, December 24, Sunday School at 9:00 a.m. and a Christmas Eve worship service at 10:00.  A Candlelit service with Holy Communion will be held at 6:00 p.m.

First Presbyterian Church–100 E. Lincolnway, will have Christmas Eve service with Holy Communion on Sunday, December 24, at 10:15 a.m.  The choir will perform.  A Candlelit service with choir will be held at 5:00 p.m.

Morrison Christian Church–201 S. Genesee Street, will have Christmas Eve service with Holy Communion on Sunday, December 24, at 10:00 a.m. 

Morrison Christian Reformed Church–300 W. South Street, will have Christmas Eve service with Holy Communion on Sunday, December 24, at 8:45 a.m.  There will be fellowship with refreshments after the service.  A Candlelit service will be held at 4:15 p.m.

Morrison United Methodist Church–200 W. Lincolnway, will have the Fourth Sunday of Advent service Sunday, December 24, at 9:00 a.m.  Carols that lead to Christ’s coming will be featured.  There will be fellowship with refreshments after the service.  At 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 will be Christmas Eve services with carols by the choir and candlelighting, followed by Holy Communion.  The Children’s Message will be delivered during the 4:00 service. 

Open Bible Fellowship–11429 Ward Road, will have Christmas Eve service with Holy Communion on Sunday, December 24, at 10:00 a.m. 

Our Savior Lutheran Church–21496 Hazel Road, will have Christmas Eve service Sunday, December 24, at 9:00 a.m., followed by fellowship.

St. Anne’s Episcopal Church–401 N. Cherry Street, will have the Fourth Sunday of Advent service Sunday, December 24, at 9:00 a.m.  An evening Christmas Eve Mass will be held at 5:30 p.m., with fellowship and refreshments of wassail and champagne following.  On Monday, December 25, the Christmas Day Mass starts at 9:00 a.m.  Hymns played by the Organist and congregational singing accompany all services.    

St. Mary’s Catholic Church–13320 Garden Plain Road, will hold the regular Obligation Mass on Sunday, December 24, at 9:00 a.m.  An evening Christmas Vigil will be held at 5:30 p.m.  Midnight Mass will begin at midnight.  On Monday, December 25, the Christmas Day Mass starts at 9:00 a.m.  All masses offer Holy communion.

St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church LCMS–601 N. Jackson Street, will hold Sunday, December 24, service at 9:30 a.m. and a candlelit Christmas Eve worship service with special music at 7:00 p.m.  On Monday, December 25, the Christmas Day service starts at 9:00 a.m. with a “Service of Lessons and Carols.”  Old Testament prophecy is interspersed with carols that lead to the birth of Jesus.

Spring Valley Reformed Church–10960 Spring Valley Road, will have Christmas Eve service with Holy Communion on Sunday, December 24, at 9:30 a.m.  There will be fellowship with coffee and cookies after the service.  A Candlelit service with special music will be held at 6:00 p.m.  The congregation exits in silence.
