The University of Illinois Extension, will host their annual Whiteside County 4-H Show, from Thursday, July 14, through Saturday, July 16, 2016. See the complete schedule and times below.
On Thursday, July 14, are the Horse and Pony, Dairy, Sheep/Goat, and Poultry shows.
Friday, July 15, includes Beef, Cat, and Rabbit shows and Foods and Sewing displays. Kids can participate in “Paint the 4-H Show.” Paint pictures on fairgrounds sidewalks that are related to 4-H.
Also on Friday, the Whiteside 4-H Federation will host a Pork Chop BBQ dinner at the Fairgrounds from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $8 (One Chop Meal) and $10 (Two Chop Meal.) Both include chop(s), chips, applesauce, baked beans, cookie, and a drink. Tickets are available at the Extension office, 12923 Lawrence Road, Sterling, IL, or through Whiteside County 4-H members.
After the BBQ, the Farm Bureau Young Farmers will host an AG Olympics, starting at 7:30.
On Saturday, July 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 4-H members will show general projects. These range from visual arts, computer science, electricity, filmmaking, woodworking, and more. Visit Swine and Dog shows starting in the morning.
Farm Bureau Young Farmers will have a petting zoo for the community to enjoy.
After project judging, 4-H members, families, and community members are invited to the lawn for a wrap-up of the week’s 4-H Show. Special awards will be presented.
