2015 Veterans Day Ceremony November 11

patrioticdecorThe devastation of World War I, deemed “The War to End All Wars,” instigated the origin of Armistice Day to honor those who fought and died.  An armistice means arms–weapons–are laid down, and fighting ceases.  It is not a surrender.

Armistice Day began November 11, 1918, to commemorate the end of conflict between The Allies and Germany, “at the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month.”

The recognition was renamed Veterans Day to honor those who served in continuing military conflicts.

On Wednesday, November 11, 2015, the annual Veterans Day ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m., at Grove Hill Cemetery, N. High Street, Morrison, IL, at the Veterans Memorial.

  • Morrison Fire Department will sound the alarm for one minute of silent tribute.
  • A three-round rifle salute will be fired.
  • Taps will be played to conclude the ceremony.
