2015 Holy Week services are listed below for 15 Morrison, IL, churches.  Each welcomes new and long-time residents as well as visitors to attend. 

CrossWalk

The annual Community Cross Walk is Good Friday, April 3, beginning at noon at Resthave Home, 408 Maple Avenue, Morrison.

Participants unable to walk to Morrison Community Hospital and Pleasant View Nursing & Rehabilitation (one mile round trip) may ride the complimentary Scenic Stage Line, Inc. bus.

 

 

Easter MorningBethesda Lutheran Church, 301 W. South Street, will hold April 2, Maundy Thursday, services beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with worship, Holy Communion, and the “stripping of the Altar.”  Soup and sandwiches will be served afterwards.  A Good Friday, April 3, service will be at 7:00 p.m.  Sunrise Service on Sunday, April 5, is at 7:00 a.m., with a second service at 9:00; both will distribute Holy Communion and have the choir perform.  Between services, from 8:00 to 9:00, coffee and rolls are available, for a donation.  Children in grades six and under will enjoy an egg hunt following the 9:00 service.

Brethren in Christ Church, 209 E. Knox Street, will hold a Good Friday, April 3, foot washing service at 6:00 p.m. with a meal afterwards.  On Sunday, April 5, Sonrise service is at 8:00 a.m., led by the BIC youth group, followed by breakfast at 9:00.  A second service is at 10:00.  

Crossroads Community Church will have two services at MIT Auditorium, 701 Portland Avenue, on Sunday, April 5.  At 8:00 a.m. will be a Family Service with Water Baptisms.  No Kidzlink Children’s Ministry will be held during this service.  A Continental Breakfast will be offered between services until 9:50 a.m.  At 10:00 a.m. is the Weekend Worship with Water Baptisms and Kidzlink Children’s Ministry.  For more information, contact the office of Crossroads Community Church at 815-956-0090.

Ebenezer Reformed Church, 309 E. Park Street, will hold a Sunday, March 29, Palm Parade service at 9:30 a.m.  April 2, Maundy Thursday, services including Holy Communion begin at 7:00 p.m.  Easter Sunday, April 5, begins with breakfast from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., followed by the service at 9:30.  Butterflies will be released outdoors at 10:30.

Emmanuel Reformed Church, 202 E. Morris Street, will hold a March 29, Palm Sunday service with Choir, Praise Team, and Palm Processional; April 2, Maundy Thursday, services at 7:00 p.m.  On Easter Sunday, April 5, worship service is at 9:00 a.m. and includes music by the Praise Team and choir.  Coffee hour follows.

First Baptist Church, 406 Maple Avenue, will hold April 2, Maundy Thursday, service at 7:00 p.m.  On Sunday, April 5, children 11 and under will have an egg hunt at 9:00, followed by Easter services at 10:00 a.m.

First Presbyterian Church of Morrison, 100 E. Lincolnway, will hold a March 29, Palm Sunday service with Holy Communion, at 10:15 a.m.; April 2, Maundy Thursday service at 7:00 p.m. with Holy Communion.  There is a 7:00 p.m., April 3, Good Friday, service.  The Easter Sunday, April 5, service is at 10:15 a.m.

Morrison Christian Church, 201 S. Genesee Street, will hold a 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, demonstration of a Passover meal from a Christian perspective, as the institution of the Lord’s Supper.  Sunrise service begins Easter Sunday, April 5, at 6:00 a.m.  Following is a potluck (bring one dish) brunch; beverages are furnished.

Morrison Christian Reformed Church, 300 W. South Street, will hold a March 29, Palm Sunday service at 9:00 a.m.  April 2, Maundy Thursday, services will be at 7:00 p.m. and held at First Christian Reformed Church, 801 15th Avenue, Fulton, IL.  The Morrison Church will serve breakfast at 8:30 a.m. prior to the Easter Sunday, April 5, service is at 9:30.

Morrison United Methodist Church, 200 W. Lincolnway, will hold a March 29, Palm Sunday dramatic reading of the Passion story during two services, at 8:00 and 10:30 a.m.; April 2, Maundy Thursday, Tenebrae service and Holy Communion begins at 7:00 p.m.; Good Friday, April 3, service is from noon to 12:30 p.m., with the sanctuary open for inpidual silent prayer until 3:00 p.m.  An additional service, remembering Good Friday and anticipating Easter, will be held Friday, April 3, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.  There will be three Easter morning services on Sunday, April 5:  6:30 to 7:00 Sunrise Service, with breakfast following; 8:00; 10:15 a.m.  

Open Bible Fellowship, 11429 Ward Road, will hold an Easter Sunday, April 5, service is at 10:00 a.m.

St. Anne’s Church, 401 N. Cherry Street, will hold April 2, Maundy Thursday, service at 6:20 p.m. and a noon, April 3, Good Friday, service.  The Great Vigil First Mass is at 10:30 p.m., Saturday, April 4.  On Sunday, April 5, Low Mass is at 730 a.m., and High Mass begins at 10:00.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 13320 Garden Plain Road, will hold Passion Vigil Mass Saturday, March 28, at 5:30 p.m.; Palm Sunday, March 29, service at 9:00 a.m.; April 2, Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 6:30 p.m.; Good Friday, April 3, Solemn Service at 12:15 p.m.  Holy Saturday Easter Vigil Service, April 19, begins at 7:30 p.m.  Easter Sunday Resurrection of the Lord Mass, April 5, is at 9:00 a.m.

St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church LCMS, 601 N. Jackson Street, will hold April 2, Maundy Thursday, services at 7:00 p.m. and a 7:00 p.m., Good Friday service on April 3.  On Sunday, April 5, the early service is at 7:00 a.m., followed by breakfast from 8:00 to 9:15; there is also a 9:30 service.  There will be no Sunday School.

Spring Valley Reformed Church, 10960 Spring Valley Road, offers April 2, Maundy Thursday, Tenebrae service with Holy Communion at 6:00 p.m.  The Easter Sunday, April 5, service is at 9:30 a.m., with no Sunday School.
