2014 Morrison Christmas Services

FasoloNativityYou are invited to celebrate the 2014 Christmas season at the following 15 Morrison, IL, churches.

Bethesda Lutheran Church, 301 W. South Street, will hold two candlelit services on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24, at 5:00 and 11:00 p.m.  The later service offers songs by the choir.

Brethren in Christ Church, 209 E. Knox Street, will celebrate Christmas Eve services from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., with goodies served afterward.  There will be candle lighting, carols, and special music during the service on Wednesday, December 24.

Christian Reformed Church, 300 W. South Street, will hold a candlelit Christmas Eve service at 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 24

Crossroads Community Church will have Christmas Eve service at 5:00 p.m. at Morrison Institute of Technology, 701 Portland Avenue (IL Route 78), on Wednesday, December 24.  Gather for a candlelight service and reflect on what God has done in our lives.  There will be no childcare during this special service.

Ebenezer Reformed Church, 309 E. Park Street, will hold its Christmas Eve candlelit service at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 24.  The choir will perform; carols will be sung; a live Nativity will be in place.

Emmanuel Reformed Church, 202 E. Morris Street, will hold a December 24, Christmas Eve service. The candlelit worship at 6:00 p.m. includes two anthems by the Sanctuary Choir, familiar carols, and a meaningful message by Pastor Rich Davis.

First Baptist Church, 406 Maple Avenue, will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight Communion service at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24. 

First Presbyterian Church of Morrison, 100 E. Lincolnway, will hold Christmas Eve candlelight services from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24.  Sunday School children, in combination with Morrison United Methodist Church Sunday School classes, will put on a program at 9:15 a.m., Sunday, December 21, at MUM Church.

Morrison Christian Church, 201 S. Genesee Street, will not hold services on Christmas Eve of Christmas Day.  The congregation will attend services at several local churches.  The regular worship service is Sunday, December 21, at 10:00 a.m.

Morrison United Methodist Church, 200 W. Lincolnway, will hold two services on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24.  Both conclude with the singing of Christmas carols and candle lighting while singing “Silent Night.”  The 4:00 p.m. service includes a Children’s Message.  The 7:00 service offers lots of music and songs by the choir.  Sunday School children, in combination with First Presbyterian Church Sunday School classes, will put on a program at 9:15 a.m., Sunday, December 21, at MUM Church.

Open Bible Fellowship, 11429 Ward Road, will hold no services on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.   However, a special Christmas Communion service will be held on Sunday, December 21, at 10:00 a.m.

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 13320 Garden Plain Road, will hold a Vigil Mass and Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24, at 5:30 p.m. and 12:00 midnight, respectively.  Children will be involved in the Vigil Mass.  Mass also will be held at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, Christmas Day.

St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church LCMS, 601 N. Jackson Street, will hold its Christmas Eve candlelit service at 7:00 p.m.  On Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, the service is at 9:00 a.m.

Spring Valley Reformed Church, 10960 Spring Valley Road, offers a candlelit Christmas Eve service at 6:00 p.m., including hymns and carols, and assembly of a live Nativity, on Wednesday, December 24.

St. Anne’s Church, 401 N. Cherry Street, will hold the Evensong service on Christmas Eve, December 24, at 5:00 p.m.  At the 10:30 Mass that evening, there will be Holy Communion and seasonal songs. Christmas Day Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m.  On New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1, 2015, Mass also will begin at 10:00 a.m.
