2014 Holy Week services are listed below for 15 Morrison, IL, churches.
Bethesda Lutheran Church, 301 W. South Street, will hold April 17, Maundy Thursday, services beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a symbolic Jewish Seder Passover service; reservations are needed for the meal. In the sanctuary at 7:00 there will be worship, Holy Communion, and the “stripping of the Altar,” with soup and sandwiches after. On Good Friday, April 18, there will be a 7:00 p.m. service. The sunrise Service on Sunday, April 20, is at 7:00 a.m., with a second service at 9:00; both will distribute Holy Communion and have the choir perform. Between services, from 8:00 to 8:45, is breakfast, served for a donation. Children in grades six and under will enjoy a egg hunt.
Brethren in Christ Church, 209 E. Knox Street, will hold Maundy Thursday, services at 6:00 p.m. with a meal provided. On Sunday, April 20, the first service is at 9:00 a.m., followed by breakfast at 9:45 and a 10:30 service. The Blue Brethren, a seven-piece group, will end the service with a Christian blues song.
Crossroads Community Church will have two services at MIT Auditorium, 701 Portland Avenue, on Sunday, April 20. At 8:00 a.m. will be a Family Service with Water Baptisms. No Kidzlink Children’s Ministry will be held during this service. A Complimentary Breakfast will be offered between services until 9:50 a.m. At 10:00 a.m. is the Weekend Worship with Water Baptisms and Kidzlink Children’s Ministry. Ebenezer Reformed Church, 309 E. Park Street, will hold April 17, Maundy Thursday, services at 7:00 p.m. Easter Sunday, April 20, begins with breakfast from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., followed by the service at 9:30.
Emmanuel Reformed Church, 202 E. Morris Street, will hold April 17, Maundy Thursday, services at 7:00 p.m. On Easter Sunday, April 20, worship service is at 9:00 a.m., and includes two anthems sung by the choir. Coffee hour follows.
First Baptist Church, 406 Maple Avenue, will hold April 17, Maundy Thursday, service at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, April 20, children 11 and under will have an egg hunt at 9:00, followed by Easter services at 10:00 a.m.
First Presbyterian Church of Morrison, 100 E. Lincolnway, will hold April 17, Maundy Thursday, service from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Holy Communion. There is a 7:00 p.m., April 18, Good Friday, service. On Sunday, April 20, service is at 10:15 a.m.
Morrison Christian Church, 201 S. Genesee Street, begins Easter Sunday, April 20, with a 10:00 a.m. service. Fellowship time will follow.
Morrison Christian Reformed Church, 300 W. South Street, will hold Maundy Thursday, services at 7:00 p.m. There is a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. prior to the Sunday, April 20, service is at 9:30.
Morrison United Methodist Church, 200 W. Lincolnway, will hold April 17, a Maundy Thursday, Tenebrae service and Holy Communion, beginning at 7:00 p.m. the sanctuary will be open for quiet reflecton from noon to 3:00 p.m. Guided meditation and prayer sheets will be available. Three services will be held on Sunday, April 20: 6:30 to 7:00 Sunrise Service, with breakfast following; 8:00; 10:15 a.m. Music will enhance the latter two services.
Open Bible Fellowship, 11429 Ward Road, will hold an Easter Sunday, April 20, service is at 10:00 a.m.
St. Anne’s Church, 401 N. Cherry Street, will hold April 17, Maundy Thursday, service at 6:20 p.m. and a noon, April 18, Good Friday, service. The Great Vigil First Mass is at 10:30 p.m., Saturday, April 19. On Sunday, April 20, Low Mass is at 730 a.m., and High Mass begins at 10:00.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 13320 Garden Plain Road, will hold April 17, Maundy Thursday, service at 6:30 p.m. and Good Friday, April 18, service at 12:15 p.m. Holy Saturday service, April 19, begins at 7:30 p.m. The Easter Sunday, April 20, worship service is at 9:00 a.m.
St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church LCMS, 601 N. Jackson Street, will hold April 17, Maundy Thursday, services at 7:00 p.m. and a 7:00 p.m., Good Friday service on April 18. On Sunday, April 20, the early service is at 7:00 a.m., followed by breakfast from 8:00 to 9:15; there is also a 9:30 service. There will be no Sunday School.
Spring Valley Reformed Church, 10960 Spring Valley Road, offers April 17, Maundy Thursday, Tenebrae service at 6:00 p.m. The Easter Sunday, April 20, service is at 9:30 a.m., with no Sunday School.
