On Friday, March 12, 2021, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos announced a total of $13,142,065 in Federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), for local Head Start and Early Head Start programs. Skip-A-Long Family and Community Services in Moline, IL, will receive $5,910,227 in Early Head Start funding. Tri-County Opportunities Council, Inc. in Rock Falls, IL, will receive $7,231,838 in Head Start funding.
Head Start promotes school readiness for young children from underserved families. The program enhances their cognitive, social, and emotional development from birth to age five. Congresswoman Bustos is a member of the powerful House Appropriations Subcommittee that oversees HHS.
