CCC Maquoketa Center Ready for Move In |
|
Move-in day is quickly approaching for the new Clinton Community College Maquoketa Center, located at 501 West Washington Street, Maquoketa. The CCC Maquoketa Center, adjacent to Maquoketa High School, will be closed June 29 through July 3 for the move, and will reopen Monday, July 6. July hours will be 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with limited activities on campus. Extended hours will begin in August. The community will be invited to attend an Open House in early August. Fall credit classes begin Thursday, August 27. Advisors will be available on Fridays in July to assist with enrollment. Clinton Community College Continuing Education Specialist Penny Plautz shared the college’s enthusiasm for the new facility, “We are excited about the move to the new CCC Maquoketa Center and all of the opportunities we can offer to Jackson County residents at the new site. We will invite the community to our Open House in August to see and experience the state-of-the-art facility. Our goal is to create a sense of community for the students. Whether folks are interested in credit, non-credit, community education or business training, we have something for everyone.” Clinton Community College currently holds classes at Maquoketa High School, in the Maquoketa Community Center and at other locations throughout the community. It was the vision of the late businessman John Fagerland to have a Clinton Community College facility in Maquoketa. Funding of the new CCC Maquoketa Center was provided by a September 2007 bond referendum approved by the voters of the Eastern Iowa Community College District. Additional support for the facility was provided by the Fagerland family. The Maquoketa School District donated the land adjacent to the high school. In addition to Clinton Community College classes and programs, the Maquoketa Center will house Iowa@/Work and Workforce Development.
