James Brian Balk


September 21, 1965 - May 30, 2009

JAMES BRIAN BALK, 43, of Clinton, IA, died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center North, Clinton, IA.

Jim was born September 21, 1965 in Clinton, IA to Brian and Linda (Bartow) Balk. He was educated in the Albany Grade Schools and graduated from Fulton High School in 1983. Jim was employed by Northwest Mechanical, working at the ADM Polymer Plant in Clinton. He was a member of the Local #025 Pipefitters Union in Rock Island, IL. He was a member of Buck’s Barn Resort in Thomson, IL and enjoyed golfing. Jim coached his son’s Little League Team in Clinton and enjoyed darts, participating in many local leagues. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and a hockey fan. Jim was an exceptional father, brother, uncle, and son.

Survivors include one son, Anthony Brian Balk at home; one daughter, Cassidy Jo Balk at home; his mother and stepfather, Linda and Mike Krontz of Thomson, IL; four sisters, Angela Lynn Balk-Jones of Fulton, IL; Elisabeth Ann Balk of Camanche, IA; Kimberly Corinne Balk of Clinton, IA; Michel Lynn Krontz of Savanna, IL; one brother, Jeffrey Paul (Monica) Balk of Newton, IA; his grandmother, Ida Mae Balk of Morrison, IL; two aunts, Sandra (Ed) Meeker of Branson, MO and Paula (Mike) Welsh of Morrison, IL; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Brian Balk; his paternal grandfather, Paul Balk; his maternal grandparents, Elmor and Juletta Bartow; and one uncle, Alan Bartow.

Funeral Information

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

OFFICIATING: Rev. Wendell Davelaar – Pastor- First Christian Reformed Church – Fulton, IL

VISITATION: 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.

INTERMENT: Fulton Township Cemetery – Fulton, IL
