Eighteen new members were inducted into Ashford University’s Alpha Sigma Lambda (ASL), a national honor society for students in continuing education, on Sunday, April 5. The inductees are all students in Ashford’s ASPIRE accelerated education program. Alpha Sigma Lambda was founded in 1945 to honor adult students who, while handling their life responsibilities, achieve and maintain high scholastic standards. There are more than 300-chartered chapters of ASL throughout the United States. The Alpha Lambda chapter of Ashford University was established on April 9, 2007. To attain membership in the Alpha Lambda chapter, a student must be seeking his or her first Bachelor's degree, be in the highest 20 percent of students, based upon GPA, and have completed a minimum of 24 credits at Ashford University and a minimum of 12 credits of liberal arts coursework.
