Mary E. Pessman


September 07, 1916 - March 16, 2009

MARY E. PESSMAN, 92, of Resthave Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, formerly of Fulton, IL, died Monday, March 16, 2009 at the nursing home.

Mary was born September 7, 1916, in rural Fulton, IL, to John and Grace (Vanderschaaf) Bielema. She graduated from Fulton High School. She married Corneil E. Pessman on February 23, 1937, in Fulton. Mary farmed with her husband for her entire life in the rural Fulton area. They retired and moved to Fulton in 1979. She was a member of the Spring Valley Reformed Church in rural Fulton, and held many offices in the church’s Ladies Aid and Missionary Society. She also taught Sunday school for 30 years. Mary enjoyed crocheting and sewing and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed flower gardening and she cherished spending time with her family and church family.

Survivors include her husband, Corneil; one daughter, Donna (Joe) Haan of Fulton, IL; two sons, Jim (Sue) Pessman of Fulton, IL and Laverne (Pat) Pessman of Fulton, IL; eight grandchildren, Sharon (Steve) Heun, Luanne (Larry) Smith, Scott (Sandy) Haan, Steve (Sharon) Haan, Michael Pessman, Mark (Jill) Pessman, Jason (Amy) Pessman, Joshua (Maria) Pessman; twelve great grandchildren, Andy Heun, Ben (Amanda) Heun, Emma Heun, Jessica (Austin) Taylor, Jaime (James) Brown, Krista Smith, Laura (Kenny) Tyykila, Kylie Haan, Maddison and Kaitlyn Haan, Madeline and Katherine Pessman; one great great grandson, Carter Taylor.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Christine Miller, Alta Pessman and Minnie Wiebenga; two brothers, Jay Bielema and one in infancy.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Spring Valley Reformed Church, Fulton, IL

OFFICIATING: Rev. Scott Bonestroo, Pastor of Spring Valley Reformed Church

VISITATION: 4:00 - 7:00 PM Friday, March 20, 2009 at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Fulton, IL

INTERMENT: Fulton Township Cemetery – Fulton, IL
