February 23, 1912 - March 09, 2009 MARVIN HAMSTRA, 97, of Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, IL, died Monday, March 9, 2009 at the nursing home. Marvin was born February 23, 1912 in Ustick Township, IL, to Dewey and Johanna (Bielema) Hamstra. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. Marvin married Inez Tenboer on July 11, 1934 in Morrison. She died April 7, 1963. He later married Ruth (Eissens) Drolema on April 16, 1976 in Morrison. Marvin was engaged in farming in the rural Morrison area until 1964. He was later employed by Erie Elevator in Erie, IL and Whiteside Farm Services in Lyndon, IL, retiring in 1977. He was a current member of the Spring Valley Reformed Church in rural Fulton and was a former member of Ebenezer Reformed Church in Morrison. Marvin had served as a Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; one daughter, Ruth (Tony) Boom of Moline, IL; two sons, Gerald (Esther) Hamstra and Keith (Joyce) Hamstra both of Morrison; one stepdaughter, Carolyn (Arlyn) Huizenga of Morrison; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Boonstra of Morrison; two brothers, Ralph and Donald Hamstra both of Morrison. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Inez; one stepson, Robert Drolema; and one sister, Alma Meinema.
