West to Receive Recognition from MNRS

Rebecca R. West, MS, RN, FNP-BC has been named as one of three recipients of the Midwest Nursing Research Society’s Graduate Research Scholars’ Award for 2009. Ms. West has been selected to receive a generous monetary award and to present her results from 2 recent research projects at the 2009 Midwest Nursing Research Society Annual Conference, held this year in Minneapolis, Minnesota, March 27-29. In addition, Rebecca will be recognized for her accomplishments during the conference’s award ceremony.

Founded in 1975, the Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) has grown to encompass a thirteen state region across the Midwest. MNRS is at the forefront of promoting, disseminating and utilizing nursing research to advance the scientific basis of nursing practice and support the development of nurse scientists.

As a doctoral student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Nursing, Ms. West is focused on the relationships among chronic psychological stress, contemplative practices, specifically mindfulness meditation, and health outcomes. She is also a board certified family nurse practitioner and maintains a clinical practice in primary care at the Morrison Family Health Clinic, Morrison, Illinois.
