Marian G. Ottens


December 12, 1921 - February 16, 2009

MARIAN G. OTTENS, 87, of 1101 – 15th Avenue, Fulton, IL, died Monday, February 16, 2009 at her home.

Marian was born December 12, 1921, in Ustick Township, Whiteside County, IL, to Harry and Grace (Huizenga) Geerts. She was educated in the Fulton Christian Grade School and attended Fulton High School. She married Gerald J. Ottens on May 2, 1941 in Fulton. Marian was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, and belonged to the church’s Rebecca Society. She was an avid reader, and was a lover of pets and wildlife.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald; one daughter, Carol Massey of Western Springs, IL; one son, Terry (Linda) Ottens of Fulton, IL; five grandchildren, Michael (Virginia) Massey; Elizabeth Dzik, Joseph Ottens, Emily Ottens, and Thomas Ottens; two great grandchildren, Evan and Madison Dzik.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence VanderVinne and Ann Shipma; five brothers, Edward, Peter, William, Harry and Clarence Geerts.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 AM Friday – February 20, 2009 at the Fulton Chapel – Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

OFFICIATING: Rev. Wendell Davelaar – Pastor: First Christian Reformed Church – Fulton, IL

VISITATION: 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday – February 19, 2009 at the Fulton Chapel – Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home

INTERMENT: Fulton Township Cemetery – Fulton, IL
